The 25-year-old son of Hugh Hefner defends his decision by writing a post about Playboy's history and philosophy on its website.

After banning naked pictorials for a year, Playboy made a u-turn and decided to start it up again by campaigning #NakedIsNormal. The campaign was started by none other than the magazine's Chief Creative Officer and the son of Hugh Hefner, Cooper Hefner.
On Monday, February 13, Cooper took to Twitter to share a picture of himself with his statement written on it. The statement read, "I'll be the first to admit the way in which the magazine portrayed nudity was dated, but removing it entirely was a mistake. Nudity was never the problem, because nudity isn't a problem. Today, we're taking our identity back and rediscovering who we are."

Cooper later elaborated his decision by releasing a post on Playboy's website titled "The New Playboy Philosophy: An Introduction". "At this point in history, the most vital intellectual discussion we can have is how to create a society that's as free as possible without ignoring the social and economic implications of our policy decisions," Cooper wrote.
He continued, "We need to identify who our allies are at a time when, on the liberal side, a culture of political correctness discourages debate that may hurt people's feelings and, on the conservative side, politicians seem comfortable jeopardizing the rights of specific groups in the belief that it will 'make America great again.' "
Previously, Playboy banned naked pictorials to gain more mainstream advertisers, but the efforts apparently didn't go well. The magazine's March/April 2017 issue will mark Playboy's return to nudity featuring Playmate Elizabeth Elam.
Playboy's official Instagram account already shared the cover picture in which Elam posed topless alongside the headline, "Naked Is Normal."
