Joe Manganiello and Marley Shelton in Talks to Join Dwayne Johnson in 'Rampage'

Should the deal be closed, Manganiello and Shelton will appear along with Johnson and Naomie Harris in the movie based on 1980s arcade game.

AceShowbiz - Joe Manganiello and Marley Shelton are in negotiations to join Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Naomie Harris in "Rampage". According to The Hollywood Reporter, Manganiello will play private military group's leader in the movie based on 1980s arcade game should the deal be closed, while Shelton will portray scientist plus astronaut.

Manganiello is best known for his role as werewolf Alcide Hevreaux on HBO's "True Blood". This year, he will lend his voice to Hefty in animated comedy "Smurfs: The Lost Village". Manganiello has also been confirmed to play supervillain Deathstroke in the upcoming "The Batman".

Shelton, meanwhile, starred in TV movie "Heaven Sent" which aired in 2016. She appeared as Dr. Alison Lennon on TV series "The Lottery" in 2014.

"Rampage" is based on 1980s arcade game of the same name. While plot details haven't been announced yet, the film will feature monstrously transformed gorilla, crocodile and wolf which are also featured in the game. The three creatures will later bring chaos to North American cities.

Naomie Harris, who is nominated for an Oscar for her appearance as an abusive mother in critically-acclaimed "Moonlight", will play geneticist in "Rampage". Johnson, meanwhile, will portray animal-loving hero and the world's only hope.

Beau Flynn, John Rickard and Hiram Garcia will serve as the producers for "Rampage". Brad Peyton, meanwhile, serves as producer and director. Johnson will executive produce the film alongside Dany Garcia, Marcus Viscidi and Jeff Fierson.

"Rampage" is set to be released in the U.S. on April 20, 2018.
