AceShowbiz - Vanity Fair Mexico pisses off Mexicans with its February issue front cover. The magazine features Melania Trump twirling a diamond necklace on the cover above the cover line which dubs her "the new Jackie Kennedy." The cover arrives ironically in the midst of the current diplomatic crisis between the U.S. and Mexico.
Vanity Fair shared the photo, which was recycled from GQ's April 2016 issue, on Twitter on Thursday, January 26. The photo featured the First Lady posing with a bowl of jewelry in front of her. Mrs. Trump was seen twirling a diamond necklace with a fork, just like spaghetti. They captioned it, "Melania Trump, on February cover. A report that reveals the past of this intriguing first lady."

The tweet was posted on the same day the White House announced a possible plan to make Mexico pay 20|percent| tax imposed on importers of the stuff that is made in Mexico and shipped to U.S. People, especially Mexicans, expressed their outrage over the cover on Twitter with either criticism or mockery.
Denise Dresser, a prominent public intellectual, shared a sarcasm remark on her Twitter account. She wrote, "Thank you @VanityFairMX for putting Melania Trump on the cover. Great example of sensitivity, empathy, patriotism and editorial intelligence."

Another user voiced out his/her outrage as tweeting, "Cancelling subscription after this laughable cover comparing Melania Trump to a noble caring woman like Jackie Kennedy." Another wrote in Spanish, "Melania Trump with a breakfast dish of diamonds on the cover of Mexico looks like joke."

Guadalupe Loaeza, a Mexican author and columnist, told The Guardian, "It's lack of sensitivity on the part of the publisher." She continued, "I started reading this and I couldn't finish. I didn't want to know anything about the wife of our country's No. 1 enemy."
Responding the criticism, Vanity Fair Mexico released a statement on its website distancing itself from the controversy. "We understand the complicated moment that has coincided with the appearance of our cover, but our intention is simply to contribute, as always, an independent and critical point of view about current affairs and the people involved," wrote the magazine in the statement.
Vanity Fair Mexico's new cover further triggers the tension between President Donald Trump and Mexico President Enrique Pena Nieto over the border wall issue. Recently, President Trump announced that he was moving forward with his plan to build a wall along America's southern border. In response to the announcement, the Mexican leader canceled their meeting that was planned for this Tuesday.
