The first trailer of "My Cousin Rachel" is now released. The movie starring Rachel Weisz as the titular character is based on Daphne Du Maurier's novel of the same name. Like Du Maurier's novel, the movie will be set in Victorian England.

In the first part of the trailer, a young Englishman named Philip (portrayed by Sam Claflin) is informed that his cousin Rachel is in England. Philip originally believed that Rachel was responsible for his godfather's death. However, Philip is soon charmed by his cousin's beauty and starts to fall for her. One of the characters says, "How easy it must be for a woman like your cousin Rachel to twist you around her little finger." The trailer later features a glimpse of their romance as well as the complication which follows.

Du Maurier's "My Cousin Rachel" was previously adapted into a movie in 1952, a year after the novel was released in 1951. BBC also adapted it in 1983. The 2017 film, which will seemingly be faithful to the novel's dark and gothic tone, is directed by Roger Michell who previously helmed romantic movies such as "Notting Hill","Enduring Love", "Morning Glory" and "Hyde Park on Hudson".

Also starring alongside Weisz and Claflin in "My Cousin Rachel" are Iain Glen, Holliday Grainger, Andrew Knott and Poppy Lee Friar. The movie is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on July 14.
