The CW has released a new trailer for "Arrow" midseason premiere. The promo teases the mystery behind the return of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), who has already died in the fourth season of the series.
Laurel's alter ego Black Canary returned in the final moment of midseason finale. She was discovered by Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) standing in front of a costume bank. She then introduced herself to Oliver as Laurel.
A scene in the new trailer shows Laurel using her Canary cry on Oliver and Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards). Oliver says, "That's not our Laurel," and Laurel replies, "Finally, it's about time someone figure it out." So who is she?
The possible answer is she is Laurel Lance of Earth-2 also known as Black Siren. She was introduced in the second season of "The Flash". She was locked up in STAR Labs' basement after causing trouble in Central City.
The key here is that this Laurel naturally has her own sonic scream, not through a device made by Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes). However, it is believed that Prometheus is behind her return. The mysterious hooded figure might be using her to make his war with Oliver even more personal.
The fifth season of "Arrow" resumes on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 8 P.M. ET on The CW.
