The 'Glee' star is following Bette Midler's musical footsteps as she takes on the 80's classic 'Wind Beneath My Wings' for Lifetime's 'Beaches' remake.

Lifetime has released a trailer for its upcoming TV movie "Beaches". The trailer shows Idina Menzel ("Frozen (2013)") and Nia Long ("The Best Man Holiday") who star as lifelong best friends in the movie. It also features Menzel's cover of "Wind Beneath My Wings", which plays over the footage of the remake.
The original version of the song, which was sung by Bette Midler, reached the first place on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1989. The remake will also feature new take on "The Glory of Love" and several other classic songs, which were recorded specifically for the movie.
The remake of the 1988 film follows the serendipitous meeting of young CC Bloom (Gabriella Pizzolo) and Hillary (Grace Capeless) on the Venice Boardwalk. CC is an aspiring singer trying to make it in Los Angeles until she is discovered by a director who gives her her first big shot. Meanwhile, Hillary is the daughter of a prominent civil rights lawyer who struggles to find her own destiny. Despite coming from different backgrounds, the two strike up a friendship that lasts a lifetime.
The remake, which is based on the novel by Iris Rainer Dart, is executive produced by Denise Di Novi ("Crazy, Stupid, Love.") and Allison Greenspan ("If I Stay"). The drama is directed by Allison Anders ("Ring of Fire") from a teleplay by Nikole Beckwith ("Stockholm, Pennsylvania") and Bart Baker ("Honeymoon with Harry").
"Beaches" premieres Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 8 P.M. ET on Lifetime.
