The Oscar-winning actor reveals that he went to audition for the role of Han Solo's sinister son in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' two years ago.

AceShowbiz - Eddie Redmayne almost went to a galaxy far far away before joining J.K. Rowling's wizarding world. The "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" actor reveals that he was eying a villainous role in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", but he had a "catastrophically bad" audition.

Redmayne told Upproxx that two years ago, he went for the role of Kylo Ren, the sinister son of Harrison Ford's Han Solo that was eventually portrayed by Adam Driver. "They gave me like a 'Star Trek' scene - or like something from 'Pride and Prejudice'," Redmayne recalled. "It was one of those films."

"With films that top secret, they don't give you the actual lines," the Oscar-winning actor continued. "So they give you a scene from 'Pride and Prejudice', but then they tell you you're auditioning for the baddie. If you're me, you then put some ridiculous voice on."

"That was a really hilarious moment," he shared. "Because it was Nina Gold, who I have to thank a lot because she's cast me in several films. And she was just sitting there and I was trying again and again with different versions of my kind of 'koohh paaaah' [Darth Vader breathing sound] voice. And after like 10 shots she's like, 'You got anything else?' I was like, 'No.' "

Though Redmayne didn't get the part, he will portray another powerful character, Newt Scamander, in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". The movie is coming to U.S. theaters on November 18 and also stars Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp.
