Sylvester Stallone Plotting Another Prison Break in 'Escape Plan 2'
Movie

The Oscar-nominated actor is set to reprise his role as Rey Breslin in the follow-up to 2013's 'Escape Plan', but in a supporting capacity.

AceShowbiz - "Escape Plan" is officially getting a sequel from Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films. Deadline has reported that Sylvester Stallone is set to reprise his role as Rey Breslin in the follow-up to the 2013 original movie. But rather than leading the prison break plot, he will have a smaller role in "Escape Plan 2".

Miles Chapman, who wrote the first movie, will once again pen the screenplay for the sequel. Randall Emmett, George Furla, Mark Canton and Zack Schiller will all return as producers, with Ted Fox, Mark Stewart, Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb executive producing. The project will be in pre-production on January 15 and the filming is expected to kick off on March 15 in Ohio and China.

The Oscar-nominated Stallone starred opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Escape Plan", which grossed $137.3 million worldwide on a budget of $50 million. However, no information is available if the former professional bodybuilder will return as Emil Rottmayer, a fellow prisoner who assisted Breslin with his prison break.

Stallone most recently appeared in Ryan Coogler's "Creed", for which he was nominated for an Oscar. He has a role in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". The superhero flick stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan, and is set for a May 5, 2017 release in U.S. theaters.
