Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky's marriage is reportedly on the verge of breakdown. While Chris and Elsa appear to be a picture-perfect couple, sources say they could be the next celebrity couple to file for divorce.
Chris and Elsa are almost living separate lives after spending time apart. Elsa jetted off to her native Spain last month, taking their three children, 4-year-old India and 2-year-old twins Tristan and Sasha, along with her. Chris, meanwhile, was in Brisbane, Australia to film "Thor: Ragnarok".
"They've decided they need space, and they've been taking a little break from each other," a close friend of the couple tells Woman's Day, "Hopefully it will be a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder, but they definitely appear to have some issues that need to be sorted out. It has raised a few eyebrows among their friends."
"He's away again in November, so you might think Elsa would want to be there to spend every moment with him, not go away without him," the source adds.
The couple fueled speculations of marital woes with Elsa's absence during Chris' recent outing at the AFL grand final game. He was accompanied by his brother Liam Hemsworth and their parents Craig and Leonie.
According to sources, Chris' rushed decision to settle down and marry Elsa in 2010 when he was only 27 could be part of the reason for the couple's "issues."
A representative for the couple hasn't commented on the report yet.
