James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy" has topped the list of the "deadliest" movies of all time. According to a study by the financial services website Go Compare, the Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana-starring superhero flick has an estimated body count to 83,871, with about 80,000 deaths coming from the fleet of Nova Corps pilots which were wiped out in its closing scene.
On Tuesday, October 4, Gunn responded in a series of tweets to the report about his 2014 blockbuster being named the movie with the biggest amount of body count ever depicted on screen. "So I guess #GotG is now the deadliest film in movie history. By, like, a lot. Um, yay?" he wrote, adding a flushed-faced emoji.
The helmer also responded to fan's tweet, "They're only counting ONSCREEN deaths, not seeing a planet explode. There are tons of movies where billions of people die, unseen." He replied another user's tweet, "It might help to read the article. You see over 80,000 ships actually explode on screen when the Dark Aster crashes through them."

Gunn also addressed the report on a Facebook post. "Wow. So according to this article, 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is the 'deadliest film of all time' with over 83k deaths on screen," he said. "For the record, the second 'deadliest film of all time' is 'Dracula Untold' at 5.6k - ['The Lord of the Rings: The Return of The King'] is number four with 2.7k deaths on screen."
"That's right - we have 78k more deaths than our closest rival," he jokingly added. "Um, hooray?"
