Britney Spears is officially announced to perform at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards set to take place Sunday, August 28. She will deliver the first live performance of her single "Make Me" from her upcoming ninth studio album "Glory", with her collaborator, rapper G-Eazy. This will mark her return to the VMAs stage after nine years.

MTV confirmed Spears' performance following weeks of speculation that she would open the VMAs after she canceled her two "Piece of Me" shows on the same weekend as the awards-giving event. G-Eazy later spilled the beans to a fan during an outing last week.

In a video announcing Spears' performance, the 34-year-old singer says in voiceover as an albino Burmese python is seen slithering through her dressing room, "The VMAs don't just give you a stage, they give you a story. Some way of taking a fraction of a second and making it live forever." She adds, "Before you know it, it's history. Before you know it, it's Britney, b***h."

The snake is a throwback to her 2001 "I'm a Slave 4 U" performance at the annual award show where she danced with a python named Banana.

Spears joins other performers billed for the show, including Video Vanguard Award recipient Rihanna. The show will air live from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
