The 'Dads' alum will star alongside Alyson Hannigan and Megan Hilty as three friends who reconnect after their close friend from college dies in a freak accident.

AceShowbiz - "The First Wives Club" is adding a third member. Vanessa Lachey (a.k.a. Vanessa Minnillo) is cast as a lead in TV Land's pilot that re-imagines the 1996 film of the same title, joining Alyson Hannigan and Megan Hilty who were earlier tapped for the reboot project.
Written by Rebecca Addelman ("New Girl") and executive produced by Jenny Bicks ("Sex and the City", "The Big C"), the TV remake adapts the Paramount film with a twist. It will be set in San Fransico and center on three women - friends and classmates in the '90s - who reconnect after their friend from college dies in a freak accident. When they discover that they are all at a romantic crossroads, they band together to tackle divorce, relationships and life's other annoying challenge.
Lachey will portray Sasha, a driven and successful chef in San Fransisco. She has it all-a hot restaurant and a great girlfriend who she plans to marry. But when she reconnects with her old friends after the death of their college roommate, she realizes she may not be as ready to settle down as she thought.
Hannigan will portray Maggie, an English professor at a university in San Francisco. Once an aspiring poet, she is a bright but frustrated woman who is struggling to put excitement back into her flagging marriage. When one of her old college friends dies, she is galvanized to finally make changes, starting with leaving her husband and tackling life with a renewed sense of adventure.
Hilty, meanwhile, will play Kim, who is once a very successful actress who has "aged out" of Hollywood. Needy and vulnerable, she works hard at staying fit and gorgeous, still hoping for that breakout role, while doing cheesy commercials. Divorced, with an eight-year-old son, Kim is happy to reconnect with old friends.
Lachey had a lead role on short-lived sitcom "Dads" which ran for one season on FOX in 2013-2014. The former Miss Teen USA has also guest starred on "How I Met Your Mother", "Psych" and "Hawaii Five-0" among other TV series.
