"Pitch Perfect 3" has lost its director. Elizabeth Banks who successfully directed "Pitch Perfect 2" was originally attached to return behind the lens, but she eventually opts to pass the torch to a new director for the next one.

Banks who co-produced the first two films will still be involved as a producer. Her departure as a director comes after the musical film was delayed from summer to Christmas 2017. It is now set to make its way out Stateside on December 22.

Anna Kendrick, Hailee Steinfeld, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow are expected to reprise their respective roles. It's unclear whether or not Banks who had role in the previous installments will return as well. She is currently busy filming "Power Rangers" as villainous Rita Repulsa.
