The life of former WWE superstar Chyna ended at the age of 45. She was found dead in her apartment in Redondo Beach, C.A. after she had not been seen or heard of for days.

According to TMZ, a friend went to check on her on Wednesday, April 20 and found her unresponsive in her bedroom. Police responded to a call at around 7:30 P.M. The cause of death is unknown but no signs of foul play were found. Prescription bottles scattered around the house and the death is being investigated as a possible overdose.

Her manager confirmed the death on early Thursday, writing, "It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th Wonder of the World, has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her." The manager also told Pro Wrestling Sheet that she had been taking medication for anxiety and sleep deprivation.

It was just last week that she posted a video on YouTube, looking alive and well. Stephanie McMahon, Chief Brand Officer of WWE, tweeted, "She was truly a pioneer in our industry and she will be missed #RIPChyna" in reaction to Chyna's death.

In 1999, Chyna was the first woman to participate in the WWF's Royal Rumble event. She won the WWF Intercontinental Championship title from the World Wrestling Federation twice, and the WWF Women's Championship once. She had opened up about her struggle with drug and alcohol, and participated in "Celebrity Rehab" back in 2008.
