The longtime collaborators did a duet version of 'Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me' during a free concert down in Los Angeles.

AceShowbiz - There was an awesome surprise within a nice surprise at West Hollywood, Los Angeles on Saturday, February 27 afternoon. Elton John rocked the Sunset Strip with his children's godmother, who is none other than Lady GaGa, as guest performer.

John's secret and free show at the former Tower Records' parking lot was done in support of his Elton John AIDS Foundation. The "Rocket Man" crooner performed a number of songs from his vast catalog of hits. GaGa popped up near the end of the 72-minute show, taking over George Michael's part in "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me".

GaGa, who sported a Dolly Parton hair and blue buttoned military-style mini dress, joined John in the middle of the song. "Give it up for this wonderful man who's inspired people for generations," she said after completing the set. "Wonderful Crazy Night is a beautiful record. And thank you so much for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. We all appreciate it so much, E."

The concert was live-streamed on AOL. John said in an interview with Sharon Osbourne before the show that the event would be "fairly spontaneous". GaGa's appearance was indeed planned out just hours before it took place. The 68-year-old singer also told Osbourne that he did the pop-up concert to give back to the neighborhood. "And so we're doing it to a) say thank you to them; b) because it's a cool thing to do," John said.
