"Fifty Shades Darker" has found its cougar. Kim Basinger is on the verge of signing up to play Elena Lincoln, a key character in Christian Grey's life.
According to THR, Basinger is in final talks to portray the former lover of Grey. The 62-year-old made a career in Hollywood when she starred in sexy pic titled "9 1/2 Weeks" back in 1986. She recently starred in "The Nice Guys" opposite Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe.
"Fifty Shades Darker" will now be directed by James Foley, who is taking over from Sam Taylor-Johnson. Foley is also attached to direct the third installment "Fifty Shades Freed" while E.L. James' husband Niall Leonard will pen both adaptations.
James has confirmed Basinger's casting via Twitter, providing a link to the news and writing, "Here you go :D." Production for the second installment will begin in mid February for February 10, 2017 release.
Fans of the book would know that [Spoiler Alert] Elena is a family friend who introduced Christian to the world of BDSM. While Anastasia bashed the woman for 'damaging' her lover, Christian credited Elena for 'liberating' him.
