AceShowbiz - Chris Soules is suing FarmersOnly dating site for using his persona in a commercial without his authorization. Chris says FarmersOnly used his name or likeness on its website. The site noted that a farmer who was on a TV show needed help finding love and would have if he had used the dating site.
According to his court papers filed in L.A. Superior Court, the TV show mention, as well as the use of a silhouetted cowboy in front of the Hollywood sign on the commercial, clearly refer to him and misappropriate his right of publicity because he's "one of the most famous celebrities in the United States."
In the ad, there is a ditty which goes, "You don't have to be lonely at FarmersOnly.com," with a tagline about how "city folks just don't get it." Chris believes he is the "lonely man" depicted in the commercial.
The contestant of "The Bachelor" is seeking profits from the commercial and unspecified damages. He accuses the dating site of using his story to attract new members.
Representatives for Chris and FarmersOnly haven't commented on the issue yet.
