The sequel to 2014's 'Ride Along' won the race on box office with $41 million, beating the 'Star Wars' movie which added another $33 million in its fifth weekend.

AceShowbiz - Ice Cube and Kevin Hart's comedy "Ride Along 2" topped this weekend's box office with $41 million from 3,175 theaters. The sequel to "Ride Along" ended the four-week winning streak "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" at the domestic box office.

Though so, "Ride Along 2" came behind the first movie, which launched to an impressive $48.6 million two years ago. Still, the first weekend gross of the sequel was considered satisfying. "This is a very good result. And I love the fact that our audience is more diverse this time," said Universal domestic distribution chief Nick Carpou. Most of the movie's audience were African-Americans and Hispanics, with male making up 48 percent of ticket buyers.

Coming behind the comedy movie was awards contender "The Revenant". The Alejandro G. Inarritu-directed movie earned $37.5 million from 3,559 theaters for a domestic total of 93.2 million.

Meanwhile, "The Force Awakens" placed third with $33 million from 3,823 theaters after ruling the box office for four consecutive weekends. Though the Daisy Ridley starrer wasn't at the top of the domestic chart, the movie won the foreign race with $47.3 million, pushing the blockbuster's global total to $1.89 billion.

Another newcomer this weekend was "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi". The movie about the attack on an American compound in Libya placed fourth with $19 million. Coming behind "13 Hours" was Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell's comedy "Daddy's Home", which added another $11.9 million in its fourth weekend.
