NBC's entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt says there won't be a second season for the 'Heroes' revival.

The recently revived superhero drama "Heroes" is coming to an end again after only one season. At the Television Critics Association's winter press tour on Wednesday, January 13, NBC's entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt made it clear that "Heroes Reborn" wouldn't get a second season.

"[One season] was always the plan, unless [creator Tim Kring] woke up one day and said, 'I have another chapter to tell,' " Greenblatt said. "But I think we're coming to the end of the world, maybe. Stay tuned. As far as I know, there are no more incarnations of 'Heroes' coming."

"Heroes Reborn" was always billed as a close-ended limited series, though if the ratings had been high you might have expected that NBC would want another season of the show. However, the show has been a disappointment on Thursday nights despite the promotional effort the network had done for the new series.

The last episode will air on January 21.
