The 'Bridget Jones's Baby' actress says that she decided not to read or see any media coverage of her dramatically different appearance last year.

AceShowbiz - Renee Zellweger made headlines last year because of her dramatically different appearance when she attended Elle Women in Hollywood Awards. In a new interview for the upcoming issue of Entertainment Weekly, the blonde beauty revealed how she handled the scrutiny over her appearance a year ago.

The "Bridget Jones's Baby" actress admitted that she didn't really pay attention to media coverage of her new look. Instead, Renee said she focused on support she received from her friends and fans. "All that I know about is what friends and associates would send in texts and emails," she recalled. "They were sending support, which means that I must have needed it, and I prefer it that way."

"So when people come up to me to ask, 'How did that feel?' I don't know, and I like it like that," Renee continued. "I don't know. I know it sounds pretty unlikely that a person might be able to make herself, I guess, keep clear of those words or of that experience, but I have and it takes effort. But I have succeeded." She added, "What good comes from knowing that something like that happened? Less fear. Sure."

Last year, the 46-year-old actress weighed in on reports about her new look. "I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows," Renee said in a statement to PEOPLE. "It seems the folks who come digging around for some nefarious truth which doesn't exist won't get off my porch until I answer the door."
