A new report claims that Disney and LucasFilm have met with four high profile female directors and three female screenwriters for the upcoming projects.

AceShowbiz - With several "Star Wars" movies planned after "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", Disney and LucasFilm are busy searching for directors for the projects. A new report from LA Times suggests that the studios have met with a number of female filmmakers for some proposed upcoming projects.

The report claims that William Morris Endeavor (WME) talent agent Adriana Alberghetti has set up meetings for four female directors and three female screenwriters. While none off the women are named in the report, Alberghetti's clients include directors Sarah Gavron ("Suffragette") and S.J. Clarkson ("Marvel's Jessica Jones"), and writers Linda Woolverton ("Maleficent") and Marti Noxon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer").

LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy previously hinted that "Star Wars" would recruit some women for future movies. "It is going to happen. We are going to hire a woman who's going to direct a 'Star Wars' movie. I have no doubt," she said. "On the other hand, I want to make sure we put someone in that position who's set up for success. It's not just a token job to look out and try to find a woman that we could put into a position of directing 'Star Wars'."

While both studios are currently searching for female directors, Kennedy revealed that she never received a phonecall from a female director about taking the directing gig. "I had not had one single phone call from a woman telling me that she really, really wants to direct a 'Star Wars' movie," she shared. "They need to be the ones picking up the phone and saying, 'Hey, let me tell you what 'Star Wars' means to me and how much I could do with it.' "

Although LucasFilm has started the hunt today, fans have to wait at least until 2019 to get a female-directed "Star Wars" movie.
