The mysterious rich man on "Fear the Walking Dead" is here to stay. Colman Domingo, who portrays Victor Strand, is promoted to series regular when the show returns for a second season this spring.
Strand has won fans' liking after saving Nick from impeding disaster and ushering main characters such as Madison Clark and Travis Manawa near the coast to escape the zombie apocalypse. In the last episode of the AMC series, the "smart and sophisticated man with a mysterious past" suggested the troupe to keep moving despite finding haven in his gated mansion.
In addition, production has been moved from Los Angeles and Vancouver to Baja, Mexico. "We are thrilled to be starting production and even more thrilled to be shooting in Mexico," said showrunner Dave Erickson in a release. "Baja Studios has been home to some of the greatest ocean-set films in recent years and provides all the creative resources we need to begin this new chapter in the Fear saga."
A prequel to "The Walking Dead", "Fear" will expand to 15 episodes in the sophomore season, which premiere date is yet announced. Strand will play a key role in the season as he attempts to move the group to his luxurious yacht sitting in the middle of the ocean.
"We end on one boat and the ocean beyond, but what we'll come to realize - and this will be part of what the military is doing - you'll see that land is no longer safe," Erickson previously told THR. "At least not in Southern California. Some people have not been quarantined or driven north or south. But there's thousands of boats through L.A. County. So a lot of people will stock up the boats and try to get to the water and avoid land as much as humanly possible."
