Starz has given a vote of confidence to "Ash vs. Evil Dead" by renewing it for a second season. The renewal comes four days before the comedy, horror series' scheduled premiere on October 31, just in time for Halloween.

The show, which picks up 30 years after the events of Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" movie, has generated strong buzz from horror fans. The cable channel attributed the early pickup to "strong fan, affiliate and distributor demand."

"One season isn't enough to satisfy the fans' two decade-long appetite for more Ash," said Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik. "The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can't end with season one."

Bruce Campbell reprises his role as Ash on the 10-episode half-hour series. Craig DiGregorio serves as showrunner and is expected to be back overseeing the series in the second season.
