Directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, the production will play at New York Theater Workshop in fall 2016.

AceShowbiz - Daniel Craig will star opposite David Oyelowo in an upcoming off-Broadway production "Othello". David will star as Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army, while Daniel will play the villainous Iago, who conspires to bring about Othello's downfall.

Tony Award winner Sam Gold will stage "Othello" at New York Theater Workshop. The production will begin in fall 2016 with exact dates still to be determined. It will mark Sam's first time tackling Shakespeare in a professional production.

"Othello" will also mark Daniel's first off-Broadway production. He previously starred opposite Hugh Jackman in Broadway's "A Steady Rain" and with Rachel Weisz and Rafe Spall in "Betrayal". He is set to reprise his role as James Bond in "Spectre".

David, meanwhile, previously appeared off-Broadway in "Prometheus Bound", "The White Devil", "The Suppliants" and "Henry VI". The "Selma" actor will next be seen in some movies including "A United Kingdom" with Rosamund Pike, "Nina" with Zoe Saldana and "Queen of Katwe" with Lupita Nyong'o.

New York Theatre Workshop is currently preparing for the world premiere of David Bowie and Enda Walsh's musical play "Lazarus", inspired by Walter Tevis' novel "The Man Who Fell to Earth". Directed by Ivo van Hove, the play stars Michael C. Hall, Cristin Milioti and Michael Esper. It begins preview on November 18 and officially opens on December 7.
