AceShowbiz - More details of Maisie Williams' character on "Doctor Who" are revealed before her appearance in an upcoming episode of the British series. The "Game of Thrones" actress will play a Viking girl named Ashildre.
The show additionally shares two clips from the said outing, one of which features Ashildre and Clara (Jenna-Louise Coleman) in action. The two are trapped in a death chamber along with a band of Vikings and desperately trying to escape.
In the episode titled "The Girl Who Died", the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and companion Clara must train a useless band of Vikings to defend themselves against the galaxy's most deadly army.
Williams reveals she initially "didn't know much about" "Doctor Who", but after she "watched a couple of seasons with David Tennant as the Doctor" she "absolutely loved it!" She also talks about landing a role on the show, "When you cross over to a different geeky fandom world, everyone's like, 'This is insane!' "
She adds, "It's so nice to know that there is a bit of hype around it before it comes out, but it also is a lot of pressure too. ... I hope that it lives up to everyone's expectations, and I can't wait to see how people like it."
"Doctor Who" airs Saturdays at 9 P.M. ET on BBC America.
