AceShowbiz - The reason why %cLeonardo DiCaprio% and %cChristian Bale% abandoned "Steve Jobs" is finally revealed. Aaron Sorkin opens up to The Hollywood Reporter that the actors bailed on the biopic after getting a call from Jobs' widow Laurene Powell.
The Oscar-winning screenwriter spilled, "Since the very beginning, Laurene Jobs has been trying to kill this movie, OK? Laurene Jobs called Leo DiCaprio and said, 'Don't do it.' Laurene Jobs called Christian Bale and said, 'Don't [do it].' "
Directed by Danny Boyle, the movie is finally opening on October 9 in the U.S. after various setbacks in the past. %cMichael Fassbender% eventually lands the coveted role. %cSeth Rogen% plays Steve Wozniak, another Apple co-founder. %cKate Winslet% also joins the cast.
Fassbender said, "I was nervous. I was very nervous. It was going to be a big challenge, the volume of words alone. I was like, 'I don't look anything like him.' And Danny was like, 'That's not what we're going for. I'm looking for someone who can capture an essence.' "
Winslet, meanwhile, recalled how the project was brought to her attention by her makeup artist, "[My makeup artist] said, 'God, the script is really so fantastic.' She described the nature of the film and how it's constructed in three acts. And I finally said, 'What's the girl's part?' "
