The 19-year-old singer took a snap with a Barbie doll inspired by her Oscars dreadlock hairstyle and thanked the company for letting her be a part of 'expansion of the definition of beauty.'

AceShowbiz - Zendaya Coleman was really excited when she introduced new Barbie doll which looks like her. The 19-year-old singer took to Instagram on Saturday, September 26 to thank the company for letting her be a part of "diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty."

The Barbie doll's hair is inspired by Zendaya's Oscars dreadlock hairstyle which was harshly criticized by Giuliana Rancic on "Fashion Police". In the picture posted on the social media, Zendaya stood side by side with the Barbie doll. A caption for the picture read, "When I was little I couldn't find a Barbie that looked like me, my...how times have changed."

"Thank you @barbie for this honor and for allowing me to be apart of your diversification and expansion of the definition of beauty," Zendaya continued, before concluding, "Can't wait to keep doing amazing things with you #besuper @luxurylaw @theshelbyswain."

Another snap showed Zendaya trying to plant a kiss on the doll's face. The snap was taken during the doll's launching event at the Barbie Rock 'N Royals Concert Experience in Los Angeles on Saturday. The singer looked pretty in a lip-printed red and white strapless mini dress.

Demi Lovato who learned of the new Barbie doll asked the company to create one inspired by her real body measurement. The "Cool for the Summer" singer took to Twitter to express her idea, "Hey @Barbie, what about a curvy doll or one with true to size measurements? I'll model!!! #raiseyourvoice #besuper."

Unfortunately, Demi's tweet was responded negatively by many Twitter users. They thought the 23-year-old singer only wanted to steal the spotlight from Zendaya who just launched the doll. User @spookyfem wrote, "Hey @Barbie pls dont make a demi lovato doll just bc shes jealous of zendaya's success this is not her moment." Another user @HIFTBABG also said, "I don't feel like you care about Barbie making curvy dolls, I just think you want the attention tbh."

Similarly, user @Etinni_ commented, "Demi Lovato could chosen ANY TIME to criticize Barbie on not having realistic body sizes. But she only does it in response to Zendaya's doll." User @modestmgmts tweeted, "Hey @ddlovato, why don't you let black people have the spotlight for once?? I'll tell you to shut up!" Following the massive backlash, Demi's tweet was later removed.
