Trevor Noah Goes Through Correspondents' Tweets After Getting Backlash for His Own
TV

The new 'Daily Show' host orders his team to go through the old tweets of his new hires and get rid of any offensive posts that could lead to any controversy.

AceShowbiz - Trevor Noah learns from his mistake after coming under fire for his old tweets targeting women and Jews. When hiring new correspondents for his new show, the comedian had his staff go through the old tweets of the new employees to avoid the similar drama.

"When we hired the new correspondents at the show, they asked me, 'Have we checked their social media?' I said, 'This is a good exercise: You go through every single tweet and tell me what you think we should get rid of,' " the Comedy Central host told New York Times.

However, determining what's offensive and what's not proves to be difficult. "People came back to me: 'I dont know, is this offensive? Is this not offensive? Is this bad?' Exactly. You do not know what may or may not offend somebody," Noah opened up.

Of his own Twitter drama, he said, "People go, 'Trevor, you should clean your tweets.' I go, I cleaned my life - I tried to grow as a human being. Someone goes, 'Yeah, but you wrote this in 2009.' I go, well, thank God I didn't write it in 2015. That to me is progress."

In one old tweet, Noah wrote, "Almost bumped a Jewish kid crossing the road. He didn't look b4 crossing but I still would hav felt so bad in my german car!" In another, he posted, " 'Oh yeah the weekend. People are gonna get drunk & think that I'm sexy!'- fat chicks everywhere."

"The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" will debut September 28, replacing "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" which pulled the final curtain on August 6. Noah will sit down with Kevin Hart on the premiere episode, founder and CEO of Bumble Whitney Wolfe on September 29, and Republican Presidential Candidate, Governor Chris Christie, on September 30. Ryan Adams then will come to the show on October 1.
