The Adam McKay-directed film follows a group of investors battling the American banks before the global collapse of the economy in 2008.

AceShowbiz - The first trailer for true-story drama "The Big Short" about the free fall of American economy is unleashed online. It features a series of Hollywood A-listers like Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell as investors who saw the 2008 financial crisis coming.

When four outsiders saw what the big banks, media and government refused to, the global collapse of the economy, they had an idea: The Big Short. Their bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking where they must question everyone and everything.

Based on the true story and best-selling book by Michael Lewis ("The Blind Side", "Moneyball"), it's directed by Adam Mckay ("Anchorman", "Step Brothers"). It's supported by Marisa Tomei, Melissa Leo, Max Greenfield, Finn Wittrock, and Hamish Linklater.

The movie will open in theaters nationwide December 23.
