The 'Trainwreck' actress is in talks to star as tennis player Billie Jean King in the movie, replacing Stone who recently had to drop out due to scheduling conflict.

AceShowbiz - Brie Larson is in negotiations to star in Fox Searchlight's "Battle of the Sexes". According to Variety, Larson is up to replace Emma Stone, who recently had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict, in the role of tennis player Billie Jean King.

Meanwhile, Steve Carell is currently set to play Bobby Riggs. The movie is inspired by a true event in 1973 in which Riggs battled King in a tennis match known as "Battle of the Sexes". King was 29 years old when she beat 55-year-old former Wimbledon champion Riggs.

"Little Miss Sunshine" filmmakers Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris will direct the movie with a script penned by Simon Beaufoy. Danny Boyle will produce along with Christian Colson. The film doesn't have an official U.S. release date just yet, but it is expected to arrive in the U.S. in 2016.

The infamous tennis match seems to be a hot topic in recent days as there are some projects which also focus on the event. HBO is developing an untitled Battle of the Sexes project, in which Paul Giamatti and Elizabeth Banks are set to star as the two central characters, with Tom Hanks' Playtone production company. Besides, Chernin Entertainment is working on "Match Maker" with Will Ferrell tapped to star as Riggs, though there's no actress attached to play King yet.
