Claudia Sandoval, Derrick Peltz and Stephen Lee are vying for the title and the grand prize in the dramatic finale.

AceShowbiz - Another reality show has wrapped up its season. The heated competition on "MasterChef" season 10 came to an end on Wednesday night, September 16 with one home cook being named the next MasterChef of the U.S.

Claudia Sandoval, Derrick Peltz and Stephen Lee were in the top three, but Stephen was eliminated in the first half of the two-hour finale after an epic battle of three pressure tests, leaving it between Claudia and Derrick.

For the final challenge, they had to prepare a three course meal. Claudia almost forgot a portion of octopus and ruined an entire batch of custard in the dessert round, but she managed to infuse Mexican flavors in her dish.

She prepared huitlacoche tamale with avocado creme for the appetizer, grilled swordfish with Mexican squash, chickpeas and salsa verde for the entree, and poached pear with key lime flan for the dessert.

Derrick's dish included spiced pork belly with watermelon three ways, pan seared venison with root vegetables, huckleberry sauce and a pastry cage, and lemon mousse with a dark chocolate shell and sponge cake.

In the end, the judges decided the winner by their ability to use everyday ingredients and that's what Claudia achieved. The events manager from California was declared the winner and won the trophy, a book deal and a $250,000 grand prize.
