'X-Men', 'Deadpool' and 'Gambit' Crossover Planned
Movie

Producer Simon Kinberg says that he has plans to make a crossover and put Deadpool, Gambit and other 'X-Men' characters in the same universe.

With "Deadpool", "Gambit (2016)" and "The Wolverine 3" in the works, it seems like 20th Century Fox wants to build another version of "X-Men" cinematic universe. Talking to MTV at the Toronto International Film Festival, producer Simon Kinberg hinted at a possible crossover between Deadpool, Gambit and other X-Men characters, saying that there were plans to "cross-pollinate" those characters.

According to Kinberg, the characters would be put into a universe taking place after the events in "X-Men: Days of Future Past". "The idea is that we've sort of reset the timeline after 'Days of Future Past' in some ways, and if not erased, certainly allowed for change from 'X1', '2', '3', everything from 'Days of Future Past' forward, 1973, everything we set now becomes canon. So the 'Gambit' movie, the 'Deadpool' movie, will exist in a world that acknowledges whatever happened in 'Days of Future Past' and moving forward," Kinberg said.

However, it's still unclear how much the said characters will be interacting with each other. "Doesn't mean they'll always interact with those characters, obviously, it's not like every movie has all the characters, but they all have to exist within the same rules... There will be interplay between different characters in different movies," Kinberg added.

Kinberg continued to tease the plan about the crossover, "It's literally behind my eyelids. But yeah, we have a clear sense of the directions we want to take them in and in my mind at least, how we could start to cross-pollinate sort of with those characters that have their standalone movies." One example of the cross-pollination is putting Colossus, which appeared in previous "X-Men" movies, into the Merc with a Mouth movie.
