AMC has picked up "Preacher" from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to series. The network announced on Wednesday, September 9 that it gave a 10-episode series order to the TV adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's cult 1990s comic book series of the same name.

Executive producers Rogen and Goldberg said in a statement, "We started reading the comic when it first came out in the '90s. In many ways Garth's sense of drama and comedy and Steve Dillon's visual aesthetic helped form our style, and the idea that we are actually bringing 'Preacher' to life is a dream come true. This is the craziest thing ever and we can't wait to move forward and work our asses off to make it the best it can be."

Rogen, who directed the pilot with Goldberg, also took Twitter to spread the good news. "Preacher is coming to AMC! @evandgoldberg @SamCatlin123! The beginning is nigh!!!" he wrote along with what appears to be a key art of the show.

"Preacher" stars Dominic Cooper as the titular character, Rev. Jesse Custer, "a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty."

Ruth Negga is cast as Tulip O'Hare, Jesse's former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who will accompany him on his journey. Lucy Griffiths plays Emily Woodrow, a church organist and Jesse's loyal right hand, Joseph Gilgun stars as Irish vampire Cassidy, and Ian Colletti stars as Eugene Root a.k.a. Arseface.

Rogen has been sharing some pictures from the set during the filming of the pilot, including teasing the first look at Cooper as Jesse.
