As director, producer and star, Jolie is grateful for the platform that 'supported the boldness and experimentation'.

AceShowbiz - The world premiere of "By the Sea" will be held at the upcoming AFI Fest. The American Film Institute announced that the Angelina Jolie-directed drama will be the opening-night presentation on November 5 at the TCL Chinese Theater.

"Time and again, Angelina Jolie Pitt has proved herself an artist of the highest caliber," Bob Gazzale, AFI president and chief executive, said in a statement on Thursday, August 27. "It is an honor for AFI to celebrate her latest story with its world premiere - and in doing so, to shine a proper light upon her boundless creative energies as an actor, director, writer and producer. "

Jolie added, "AFI has long supported the boldness and experimentation that accompanies provocative cinema." Her husband Brad Pitt also stars in the film which centers on a writer and his wife who arrive at a seaside resort in 1970s France with their marriage apparently in peril. "This is a story about a relationship derailed by loss, the tenacity of love, and the path to recovery and acceptance," said Jolie earlier this year.

The AFI Fest will be held from November 5 to 12 at various Los Angeles theaters. Universal Pictures will then release "By the Sea" nationwide on November 13.
