Claire Holt will return as Rebekah, and Casper Zafer is set to reprise his 'Vampire Diaries' role as Finn for the upcoming season of the spin-off.

Claire Holt is coming back to "The Originals" for its upcoming season 3. The actress, who exited "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off as a series regular in its first season, is set to reprise her role as Rebekah Mikaelson in the season 3 premiere.

She will appear in a flashback scene that will also feature Kol Mikaelson (Nathaniel Buzolic) and bring back the original Finn, portrayed by Casper Zafer. Zafer last appeared as Finn in season 3 of "The Vampire Diaries". The character was resurrected on "The Originals" season 1 finale, but he took Vincent's body and was portrayed by another actor, Yusuf Gatewood.

Writer/executive producer Michael Narducci tells TV Guide about the flashback scene, "[It's] a flashback that we've never seen before. We've always understood that the Mikaelson family, the brothers and sister, had to flee in the wake of Esther's death by Klaus' hands. Klaus blamed Mikael and said, 'We have to go. Our father is insane,' and for a very long time Mikael chased them."

He further teases, "So wouldn't it be cool to see the family not long after that? What was their state of mind? What were their relationships like? How did they relate to one another knowing Mikael was out there somewhere, and they're relatively new vampires so what was their existence like? I think it might be surprising and interesting."

Narducci recently also revealed that Klaus and Cami would be getting closer, although it starts out as a professional relationship. "When we begin the season, Klaus and Cami have a very professional relationship. He has been so awful and diabolical to his family and he's begun to see Cami professionally, as if to tell Elijah, 'See, I'm turning over a new leaf; I'm working through my issues with a therapist!' " he shared.

"Cami, for her part, now as a licensed practitioner, wants to help this guy, if for no other reason than she knows as a member of the O'Connell family legacy she can do some small bit of good by helping Klaus rein in his temper and avoid killing innocent people," Narducci went on dishing. "She feels a moral obligation to get involved in his life and be someone he can vent to and open up to and help him work through some of his anger. And where that relationship goes from there I think is very interesting."

"The Originals" season 3 debuts Thursday, October 8 at 9/8c on The CW.
