The 'Heart Attack' songtress slams protests to shield Cosmopolitan magazine on newsstands, saying, 'I feel incredibly EMPOWERED and the MOST BEAUTIFUL I've ever felt on this magazine.'

AceShowbiz - Demi Lovato couldn't sit still after learning of ongoing protests to have Cosmopolitan magazine covered up in stores. The "Cool for the Summer" who covers the September issue of the magazine took to Twitter to slam the protests.

Demi wrote a lengthy note to elaborate her arguments of why shielding the magazine on newsstands everywhere is not necessary. "What these individuals who are protesting don't understand is that for the first time in a long time I feel incredibly EMPOWERED and the MOST BEAUTIFUL I've ever felt on this magazine," she wrote.

"It's so liberating to be able to show the world how confident a woman can be once she learns to love herself. It took soul searching and a bit of time before I learned to embrace my body therefore I could not have been more excited to do this shoot," the 22-year-old singer continued. "I think what's more important is showing women there's NOTHING WRONG with embracing their bodies and sexuality."

Demi also showed how proud she was to be the magazine's cover girl. "I am confident in my own skin and A PROUD @COSMOPOLITAN COVER GIRL! Check it out on newsstands everywhere," she wrote, before adding the hashtag #unwrapmycosmo at the end of the note.

Recently, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation launched a "Cosmo Harms Minors" campaign, arguing that the magazine "has steadily declined from a somewhat inspirational women's magazine to a verbally pornographic 'how-to' sex guide." In response to the campaign, some major supermarket chains like RiteAid and Delhaize America announced last week that they would put the magazine "behind blinders."
