"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" is not going to premiere until 2016, but fans already get a glimpse of what will happen when these "legends" team up to fight against a supervillain. Entertainment Weekly has obtained a concept art from the upcoming The CW series, featuring the likes of The Flash, The Atom, Captain Cold and Martin Stein/one half of Firestorm in an epic battle.
Showrunner Phil Klemmer tells the site that when these heroes and villains are recruited by time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter to thwart the big baddie, Vandal Savage, there's still a long way to go before they earn their label as "legends." In fact, Klemmer says, "They're screwups. Instead of tiptoeing through history, they're plodding through it, leaving their footprints and fingerprints and constantly having to wonder whether they're going to screw the future up rather than fix it... It's going to be total madness."
Moreover, they will be tempted to use time-travel for their own gain. "Who can resist the urge to correct the past or to investigate the future?" Klemmer says. "The idea of traveling through time has a caper quality to it, and that's what we're looking forward to. Yes, there will be the big 'try to stop Vandal Savage' [plot], but people will inevitably become diverted on their little side missions and when people are trying to fix their own timeline, that's when you really start screwing things up."
"Legends of Tomorrow" consists of Ray Palmer/The Atom (Brandon Routh), Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Mick Rory/Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Martin Stein/one half of Firestorm (Victor Garber), Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) and White Canary (Caity Lotz), who are united by Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) to stop an unstoppable threat - one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself.
The show is slated for a winter 2016 premiere on The CW.
