It has been confirmed that the network canceled the follow-up to miniseries 'The Bible' after only one season.

AceShowbiz - There won't be a second chapter for "A.D. The Bible Continues". Various sites have confirmed that NBC has decided not to move forward with a second season of the biblical drama. The network has not made the official announcement, but the cast reportedly has already been informed about the decision.
Serving as a follow-up to History Channel's hit original series "The Bible" from executive producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, "A.D." was launched with high expectations, but it failed to follow the success of its predecessor. The show averaged a little more than 6 million viewers and a 1.0 rating in adults 18-49.
While it was initially announced as a 12-episode event series, "A.D." was expected to continue beyond a freshman season. In April, before the series' Easter debut, Burnett told Deadline that writers already were working on scripts for season 2.
"A.D." gives a look at the lives that were instantly altered following the Crucifixion of Christ. It focuses on the disciples who had to go forward and disseminate the teachings of Christ to a world dominated by political unrest, starting a whole new religion that would dramatically reshape the history of the world.
