The couple reportedly doesn't want any drama in their divorce process and agrees to work together in the best interest of their kids.

AceShowbiz - It's officially over for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. Following persistent rumors about their marital issues, the couple announced on Tuesday, June 30 that they're divorcing after ten years of marriage.

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time," they said in a joint statement. "This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."

The split is reportedly amicable. "They don't want this to be War of the Roses," a so-called insider tells Us Weekly. "They want it to be simple and this takes the drama out of it. It is important for them to keep this nice and efficient for the sake of their family."

Affleck and Garner, who co-starred in 2001's "Pearl Harbor" and 2003's "Daredevil, The Movie", reportedly will continue to live on their Brentwood property, though not in the same house, so that they can co-parent their kids.

The insider adds, "They've been married for a long time and tried to make it work for many years. They eventually realized this is the best thing to do for their family. They don't want it to be contentious. A lot of people say that but they are doing things to ensure that it won't be. There is a lot of love there but, they are doing what is best for everybody."

Another source tells E! News, "Things have been very challenging for the last several months," and they "have been living separate lives and preparing for this for a long time." The couple reportedly has been in counseling for two years to work on their marriage, but as the source claims, "They grew apart. They were great parents together but they were not always on the same page."

Affleck and Garner are said to have been in a trial separation for 10 months before the divorce announcement, during which time he was staying at hotels. The divorce announcement comes a day after their tenth wedding anniversary on June 29, but a source says it has nothing to do with "money reasons." Though the length of marriage will determine the spousal support received by Garner, she doesn't need it since she can support herself.
