After a 'fluke accident' that left his toe broken and his ankle sprained, Derek may not be able to perform on the ABC show next Monday.

AceShowbiz - Derek Hough may be benched for the next episode of "Dancing with the Stars". The pro dancer recently injured himself during rehearsal on Monday night, April 20 and was rushed to hospital. He has been released from hospital but needs some time to recuperate.

A rep for Derek explains his condition in a statement, "While rehearsing for the 10th Anniversary 'Dancing with the Stars' television special Monday night in Los Angeles, Derek Hough suffered injuries to his right foot and left ankle. He has been diagnosed with a broken toe on his right foot and sprains to his left ankle on both the inside and outside aspects and a bone bruise on the same ankle."

"Derek will remain in Los Angeles this week to rehab his injuries and his understudy will be filling in for him for New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall in New York. While it remains unclear at this time if Derek will be able to perform on the Monday, April 27 episode of 'Dancing with the Stars', his partner Nastia Liukin will train in Los Angeles this week with pro-dancer Sasha Farber to prepare for the Live show."

He was spotted walking with a crutch after grabbing brunch at Blu Jam Cafe in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning.

Fellow "DWTS" dancer Mark Ballas first revealed Derek's condition when he posted on Instagram a picture of Derek's injured feet. "Long night in the ER with @derekhough nothing worse than seeing a fellow dancer get hurt especially your brother," he wrote. Mark said he, his girlfriend Britney Jean Carlson as well as his father Corky escorted Derek to the hospital.

Derek later posted the same photo on his own Instagram and wrote in the caption, "Performing 10 shows a week at Radio City while rehearsing with Nastia for DWTS, I've never felt more healthy, strong and fit. But then a fluke accident happened that involved a light and some stairs. Can't believe it, wish I had a cooler story to tell. All that dancing , flipping , jumping and the thing that stops me in my tracks is something as simple as a light and some stairs . I'm doing everything I possibly can to have a quick recovery and I'm determined to come back stronger than ever. I appreciate all the love and support, you guys are the best."

He added, "And thank you to Mark, BC Jean and Corky Ballas for staying with me at the hospital until 2am. Love you . This is new territory for me , I'm usually able to work through injury but this one has literally floored me. But like I said before I'm determined to come back all guns blazing ... soon!!! #setbackisasetupforacomeback."
