Sony signs a multi-picture deal to develop superhero movies based on Valiant comics. "John Wick" directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski are hired to helm one of the comic book adaptations, "Bloodshot", for a scheduled 2017 release.

Jeff Wadlow ("Kick-Ass 2") and Eric Heisserer ("The Thing" remake) are booked to write the script based on the story of a soldier brought back from the dead and turned into a killing machine. Matthew Vaughn is among executive producers.

The plan is to build a shared universe with two movies based on the graphic novel "Bloodshot" and two other feature films adapted from another Valiant book, "Harbinger". A crossover movie "Harbinger Wars" will later get made.

"Harbinger" is an X-Men esque comic which follows a group of superpowered beings on the run from the Harbinger Foundation. Heisserer will write the script solo, while Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe ("Fast and Furious" franchise, "21 Jump Street) serve as producers for all the five flicks, and Andrea Giannetti will oversee for Sony.
