Lifetime teases "The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe" by releasing a sneak peek for the upcoming miniseries. The video offers glimpses of the life of the late actress, played by Kelli Garner, as a big star, as a daughter, and as a wife.

Based on J. Randy Taraborrelli's book of the same name, the two-part miniseries promises to uncover Marilyn Monroe's big secrets, including the mental disease that ran in her family. Kelli recently said, "I had no idea that her mother was in and out of institutions -- diagnosed schizophrenic." Susan Sarandon takes on the role of Marilyn's mother, Gladys.

Marilyn went on to inherit the mental disease and she's seen getting into an asylum in the video. "She went from nothing to being on the top of the biggest mountain to just tragically tumbling right off of it," Kelli added.

Of Marilyn's relationship with her mother on the miniseries, Kelli said, "There was a distance between us that I hope reads really beautiful. You start seeing droplets of both of these people trying to connect, and having nothing to connect on."

"The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe" will air May 30 and 31 at 9/8c on Lifetime. Emily Watson and Jeffrey Dead Morgan also join the cast.
