'Interstellar' Wins Big at 2015 Empire Awards

The sci-fi flick got the big honor as the Best Film while its director Christopher Nolan bagged two awards for Best Director and Empire Inspiration.

AceShowbiz - "Interstellar" grabbed three coveted prizes at the 25th Jameson Empire Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, England on Sunday evening, March 29. The sci-fi flick received the big honor as the Best Film.

It beat out "Boyhood", "Dawn of The Planet Of The Apes", "The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies" and "The Imitation Game". Due to his work for the movie starring Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain, Christopher Nolan received Best Director Award. The 44-year-old British filmmaker was additionally presented with Empire Inspiration Award at the prize-giving ceremony.

Best Actor went to Andy Serkis for his role as Caesar in "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and Best Actress was awarded to Rosamund Pike for her portrayal of Amy Dunne in "Gone Girl". "Kingsman: The Secret Service" won Best British Film Award and its actor Taron Egerton grabbed Best Male Newcomer Award. Best Female Newcomer Award was given to Karen Gillan.

"Paddington" was named Best Comedy, "The Babadook" was honored with Best Horror and "The Imitation Game" was named Best Thriller. "X-Men: Days of Future Past", meanwhile, grabbed Best Science-Fiction/Fantasy Award.

Ralph Fiennes was named Empire Legend while "Game of Thrones" received Empire Hero Award.
