AceShowbiz - Demi Lovato received a sweet surprise from her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama when she played a concert on Wednesday night, March 18 at Los Angeles' Troubadour nightclub. The singer, who was hosting her first annual Lovato Scholarship Benefit concert, got emotional after her longtime beau made a surprise appearance on the stage.
Lovato didn't know Valderrama would be coming to the event, because he was supposed to be in Canada. "My heart is broken that he couldn't be here tonight," she said before the crowd cheered as the actor walked onto the stage with a cake on his hands to celebrate her three years of sobriety.
Visibly stunned, she broke into tears before giving him a big hug and kissing him in front of the audience. "So I just got off a plane from Toronto. And there's like a million things to say - it's been a long time since we've seen a role model like her," Valderrama later gushed over his girlfriend.
"It's been a long time to see somebody who has the courage to be exactly who she wants to be. And if you're going to take away anything from tonight, walk away with the understanding that, from today, life will get better," he added.
The Wednesday concert was held to raise money for the singer's Lovato Treatment Scholarship that she launched in 2013 to help people who struggle with mental health or addiction issues. The show featured performances from Lovato, who sang some of her hits including "Nightingale", " Skyscraper" and "Warrior". Christina Perri, Bea Miller and Lovato's BFF and former boyfriend Joe Jonas were among other stars taking the stage.
