"The Crow" has apparently also found its Shelly. In addition to confirming Jack Huston's casting as Eric Draven, comics creator James O'Barr said at the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention that Jessica Brown Findlay was cast in the role of Shelly.

O'Barr further shared that Findlay, who is widely known for playing Lady Sybil Crawley on "Downton Abbey", had been his number one choice for the role. He noted that contracts had not been signed yet, but it's a done deal.

O'Barr also revealed at the panel that the bird accompanying Eric would be actually talking to him and would be brought to life with stop-motion animation. Filming will begin "in a couple of months" in Belgium which stands in for Detroit.

O'Barr said he would have a say in choosing the soundtrack, including some Joy Division songs referenced in the book.

If the new film is successful, it will be the beginning of a new franchise with the sequels tackling The Crow in different forms and time periods. He further dished that the possible sequel would feature a very punk, female Crow as the lead.
