Giuliana Rancic Apologizes to Zendaya Live on Air: I Did 'Cross the Line'
Celebrity

After tweeting an apology to Zendaya on Monday night, February 23, Giuliana apologized again to the 18-year-old actress during a brief E! News segment on Tuesday.

AceShowbiz - Giuliana Rancic issued a public apology to Zendaya Coleman during a brief E! News segment on Tuesday, February 24 for her "racist" comment about the actress' hairstyle at the Oscars. Giuliana's apology came after her "Fashion Police" co-host Kelly Osbourne threatened to quit the show due to the debacle.

Giuliana said, "I'd really like to address something that's weighing very heavy on my heart. I want to apologize for a comment that I made on last night's 'Fashion Police' about Zendaya's hair. As you know, 'Fashion Police' is a show that pokes fun at celebrities in good spirit, but I do understand that something I said last night did cross the line."

"I just want everyone to know that I didn't intend to hurt anybody, but I've learned it's not my intent that matters. It's the result. And the result is people are offended, including Zendaya. And that is not OK," the 40-year-old TV personality went on, "Therefore, I want to say to Zendaya, and anyone else out there that I've hurt, that I'm so so sincerely sorry."

"This really has been a learning experience for me. I've learned a lot today and this incident has taught me to be a lot more aware of cliches and stereotypes, and how much damage they can do. And that I am responsible, as we all are, to not perpetuate them further," she added.

Zendaya previously posted a lengthy message on Twitter and Instagram, slamming Giuliana for saying that her Oscars dreadlocks smelled like "patchouli oil... or maybe weed." The "Zapped" star wrote, "To say that an 18-year-old young woman with locs must smell of patchouli oil or 'weed' is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive. I don't usually feel the need to respond to negative things but certain remarks cannot go unchecked."
