AceShowbiz - Before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Academy Awards unveils the nominations for its 87th annual Academy Awards, the Golden Raspberry Awards announced the nominees for the 35th Annual Razzie Awards. Following the footsteps of its predecessors, "Transformers: Age of Extinction" emerges in the "Worst of the Worst" list, leading the pack with seven nominations.
The fourth installment in the popular sci-fi film franchise is nominated for Worst Picture along with "Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas", "Left Behind" starring Nicolas Cage, "The Legend of Hercules" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles". "Saving Christmas" and "Legend of Hercules", which earn six nominations each, are also pitted up against "Transformers 4" in Worst Director category.
In acting categories, Cameron Diaz tops other actors with three nominations. She's nominated for Worst Actress (for "The Other Woman" and "Sex Tape"), Worst Supporting Actress (for "Annie") and Worst Screen Combo (with Jason Segel in "Sex Tape").
"The Expendables 3" cast members Mel Gibson, Kelsey Grammer (who also stars in "Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return", "Think Like a Man Too" and "Transformers: Age of Extinction") and Arnold Schwarzenegger are all nominated for Worst Actor.
This year's Razzie Awards includes a new category, Razzie Redeemer, which acknowledges that past nominees and "winners" can (and often do) go on to far far better things. The contenders are Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Mike Myers, Keanu Reeves and Kristen Stewart. The winner for the inaugural Razzie Redeemer Award is determined by public votes, which can be submitted on Rotten Tomatoes.
"Winners" of the Razzie Awards will be revealed on Oscar Eve, Saturday, February 21.
