Mark Wahlberg's plea for pardon in Massachusetts is still pending. Mark's pardon is not included in the four pardons supported by Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick, the Associated Press reports. As Deval prepares to turn the office over to Charlie Baker, he has thrown his support behind four pardons and a commutation.

"It's hard politics to get pardons before the Governor's Council," Deval said, referring to the elected governor which has the final decision of approving the pardons. If the four pardons and the commutation supported by Deval are approved, they will be the first pardons in Massachusetts since 2002 and the first commuted sentence in 17 years.

According to the site, the governors rarely approve pardons like Mark's because it's considered excusing criminal acts and is politically risky.

Mark previously filed a pardon application for assault he committed in 1988. When asked about his reason to seek pardon, the "Ted" actor told E! News, "I've been spending the past 27 years trying to correct the mistakes that I've made. I'm not trying to gain a pardon because I feel like, well, now I'm rich and successful. I didn't ask for it five years, 10 years, 20 years, 25 years after the fact."

He continued, "I feel like I have now gotten to a place where not only did I have a huge amount of remorse but I have done tons of work to better myself as a person, not as a celebrity. This something that I lived, you know, growing up in the street. Now I can be a positive influence in kids' lives. I just hope that, you know, I can be recognized for that. If not, I will continue to do that."
