Emma Watson is now a single lady. The 24-year-old British actress is confirmed to have broken up with her boyfriend Matthew Janney, an Oxford University rugby player. The couple called it quits a month ago after dating for around a year.
The actress and the 22-year-old athlete reportedly grew apart due to her hectic schedule. A representative for the Hermione Granger of the "Harry Potter" movie series told the Daily Mail that the split was amicable and the now exes remained friends.
Watson, who also studied at Oxford, met Janney last December at an Oxford vs. Cambridge rugby game. They were later spotted kissing at a romantic Caribbean getaway in January. Contrary to the swirling rumor, the two hadn't moved in together.
"I don't date people who are famous," she told Elle Australia in March. She said she felt bad when the persons she dated were suddenly put under media microscope due to his relationship with her. "I don't think it's fair that, all of a sudden, intimate details of their personal life are public as a direct result of me," she explained. "I wish I could protect them."
