Krysten Ritter turns from "the B---- in Apartment 23" into a superheroine. The "Veronica Mars" alumna has been cast in the title role for the new Netflix series, "Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones", based on Marvel Comics character.

Ritter, who recently guest starred on NBC's "The Blacklist", reportedly won the role over Teresa Palmer. According to Deadline, both actresses had chemistry reads with "The Following" star Mike Colter, who is said being considered for the male lead role, Luke Cage.

"Jessica Jones" is the second series developed as part of Netflix-Marvel deal. The title character is a former superhero known as Jewel who hangs her costume after suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. She then works as a private investigator. The 13-episode drama is spearheaded by Melissa Rosenberg.

"Daredevil", another Marvel series which was developed earlier by Netflix, was filmed last summer in New York for a 2015 premiere. Charlie Cox is cast as the blind lawyer Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil.
